Native to the Atlantic Ocean and its tributaries in eastern North America. Striped bass X white bass (Morone chrysops) hybrids have been stocked in Lake Columbia, Columbia County (Wisconsin River drainage), since the mid-1980s. The heated water in this power plant cooling lake allows the hybrids to survive over the winter.
